What We Offer

Does this become a general info about what we offer, how we offer it, what they can achieve before we split this into 2 seperate pages – one specific for Gymnastics and a second for Trampoline incorporating the BG Videos as they dont seem to do one for Gym or WAG that i can find. Have also probably duplicated the Classes page and can be incorporated into a What We Offer instead.

New What We Offer Front Page!

We offer a wide range of Trampoline & Gymnastics classes  suitable from Ages 4 through to Adult

Both our gymnastics & trampoline classes are  fun and enjoyable, taught by our friendly fully qualifed coaches. We also have assistant coaches & helpers who are both trampolinist and gymnasts themselves training to become qualified coaches. Our general gymnastics there are never more than 1 coach to 8 children allowing the children to get as much coaching support as they need and for Trampoline 1 – ????

The class structure for gymnsatics is a group warm up lead by one of the coaches, then they all work on basic gymnastics skills in lines. They are then split into groups based on abiltity and have a chance to work on individual gymnastics skills such as the vault or the bars. Groups rotate around so they get to work with different coaches and equipment. Squad gymnasts take it in turns to lead a warm up supervised by a coach. Trampoline gymnasts also start with a warm up on the bed which is directed by the coach looking after them. Squad trampolinists & DMT are expected to do at least a 15 minute floor warm up before commencing a bed warm up.

Both Gymnastics & Trampoline offer badge work that can be worked towards in classes, this is not every week but most of the skills are incorporated into the classes. This enables the children to have something to work towards and they get a badge and certificate after they have completed each level requirements. Each level gets harder as the gymnasts develops.

A cool down game or conditioning for is run at the end of the session depending on what the ability of the group is. Pre-Squad & Squads will normally do conditioning at least once a week and the younger members will have a game.

Our aim is to help improve the gymnasts confidence inside and outside of the gym and to develop them to be the best gymnast they can be through fun and positive teaching

There are also holiday camps during school holidays that can be booked. To see information about our Timetable, Prices & booking online please select below. To find out more about some of our skills please scroll down

What We Offer Gymnastics Page

As a Purley Gymnastics Club we offer a number of types of gymnastics to suit all ages abilities.  Gymnastics requires balance, strength, flexibility, agility, coordination, artistry and endurance. For those that are just starting out for the first time or have never tried we start with the basics of coordination and balance, learning the basic skills before progressing ensuring that they are taught how to do each skill safely and most of all by having fun whilst doing this.

As you progress we offer the most common form of gymnastics at both competitive level or if you wish by keeping it purely recreational in the way of  WAG (Womens Artistic Gymnastics).  This covers events such as Floor, Vault, Uneven Bars & Beam. We encourage everyone to take part and learn new skills and continue developing  and encourage everyone to take part at our local internal events. We do have squads that compete in these events but we also have a number of gymnasts who are just as happy having fun with their friends.

What We Offer Trampoline

As a Croydon Trampoline Club we also offer Trampoline Gymnastics which includes the Trampoline & the Double Mini Trampoline. These can both be practiced for recreational excercise or competitively – See Videos Below for Tramp/DMT/Tumbling

The DMT is like two mini tramps that have been joined in the middle. The first section of the apparatus is set at a slight angle and called the mount. From the mount, skills are performed onto the second section of the apparatus. This second section is called the spotter and is where skills can be performed back onto the tramp bed or as a dismount onto the landing mat.

Double Mini Trampoline can be likened to a combination of Athletics, Trampolining and Gymnastics. Competitors sprint down a carpeted track and hurdle onto the apparatus before performing double and triple somersaults with the same precision required on a trampoline. The only difference is that gymnasts have to land on a trampoline bed less than a quarter the size of a trampoline, before performing a dismount on to a landing mat.

In DMT competitions there are four passes, two in the preliminary round and then two in the final round. Each pass consists of one skill performed as either a mount or a spotter, followed by a dismount skill making two skills per pass

Trampolining or trampoline gymnastics[1] is a competitive Olympic sport in which athletes perform acrobatics while bouncing on a trampoline.[2] In competition, these can include simple jumps in the straight, pike, tuck, or straddle position to more complex combinations of forward and/or backward somersaults and twists. Scoring is based on the difficulty and on the total seconds spent in the air. Points are deducted for bad form and horizontal displacement from the center of the bed.

Outside of the Olympics, competitions are referred to as gym sport, trampoline gymnastics, or gymnastics, which includes the events of trampoline, synchronised trampoline, double mini trampoline and tumbling.

Gymnastics is a type of sport that includes physical exercises requiring balancestrengthflexibilityagilitycoordination, artistry and endurance.[1] The movements involved in gymnastics contribute to the development of the arms, legs, shoulders, back, chest, and abdominal muscle groups. Gymnastics evolved from exercises used by the ancient Greeks that included skills for mounting and dismounting a horse, and from circus performance skills.[2]

The most common form of competitive gymnastics is artistic gymnastics (AG), which consists of, for women (WAG), the events floorvaultuneven bars, and beam; and for men (MAG), the events floor, vault, ringspommel horseparallel bars, and horizontal bar.

Eight sports are governed by the FIG, including gymnastics for all, men’s and women’s artistic gymnasticsrhythmic gymnasticstrampolining (including double mini-trampoline), tumblingacrobaticaerobic, and parkour.[3] Disciplines not recognized by FIG include wheel gymnasticsaesthetic group gymnasticsTeamGym, and mallakhamba.

Trampoline

As a Croydon Trampoline Club we also offer Trampoline. Trampoline is a competitive sport in which athletes perform acrobatics whilst bouncing on a trampoline. In competitions, these include simple jumps in the straight, pike or straddles position to more complex combinations of forward and/or backwards summersaults and twists to produce 2 seperate 10 bounce routines. Twizzlers offer both recreational and competitive classes and encourage everyone to take part in both our internal displays and competitions which are held throughout the year.

DMT (Double Mini Trampoline)

Also as a Croydon Trampoline Club we now also offer the chance to try Double Mini Trampoline, sometimes referred too as the double mini or DMT. This is another  gymnastics discipline that falls under trampolining. Participants perform acrobatic skills on an apparatus smaller than a regular competition trampoline by way of a run up and instead of jumping straight up need to be able to control the momentum to perform 2 skills on either of the 2 areas within the DMT either as a Mount skill, Spotter and and Dismount Skill. The apparatus has both an angled section and a flat section.
