Frequently Asked Questions?

We have put together some of our most frequently asked questions to try and give parents enough information about how Twizzlers is run. If you have any questions or require some further information about what is below then please don’t hesitate to reach out and contact us directly

How old does my child have to be to start?

We run pre school classes from walking age until they start school, these classes are 45 minutes and are an introduction of basic gymnastics and trampoline exercises. Our main trampolining and gymnastics classes are each an hour long. Gymnastics or trampoline classes start from age 4. Please see our timetable for more information on ages for each session.
How many sessions should we attend?

We recommend for all children to start off with 1 class. This could be the combined 45 minute class for ages 4-7 or it could be the hour long class of either gymnastics or trampoline. If we feel your child would benefit from more we will talk to you about this and they can try more hours to see if they are ready. Our development/pre squad and squad classes are a minimum of twice a week and the amount of hours in these classes is dependant on their level.
My child wants to do both gymnastics and trampoline is this possible?

Many of our members do both disciplines, some do a class straight after the other, others on different days. It is up to you as parents to decide what works for you and your children. It is also completely dependant on how well they cope with doing 2 classes back to back and the parents flexibility being able to bring them in on multiple days
Can we watch?

All Parents/Guardians/Carers are welcome to watch for the trial sessions. However after this we ask that you leave so they can concentrate on their class. Our door is always open though and you are always more than welcome to pop your head in to see how your child is doing.
What should my child wear?

No Jeans/Belts/Buckles are to be worn, comfortable clothing such as leggings/shorts with a T-shirt is recommended. Socks must be worn for all trampoline classes.

Once your child progresses to an intermediate class or squad classes we ask that they wear a leotard and shirts or leggings. This can be any leotard it doesn’t have to be the club one, but we do sell training leotards, competition leotards and also second hand leotards.
Who can compete?

If your child is in one of our squad classes they will be invited to take part in outside competitions. If they are in one of our recreational classes they are encouraged to compete in our in house competitions but we rarely invite recreational gymnasts to compete in external competitions.
How can my child join your squads?

All of the children in our classes are continuously looked at to see if they would benefit from joining one of our competition structure classes. However if you feel your child has been overlooked or you would like us to look specifically at them please just send us an email and we will make sure we give them an extra assessment in their class. We also have squad trial dates twice a year where gymnasts/trampolinists from our club or other clubs can come along for a 1:1 trial to see if they would fit into our program.
My child is not progressing?

Every child learns at their own pace. And all gymnasts/trampolinists have different strengths. Some may progress through the basics very quickly and then get stuck and others may progress through the basics slowly and then pick up the harder skills more easily. They will all get to where they would like to be in their own time so try not to compare your child to any others even if they started at the same time or are older.
Can my child earn badges?

Yes. Our recreational trampoline classes follow a badge scheme that is worked on every session. And our gymnastics classes are assessed for their badges once a month. We are currently in the process of writing and finalising our own badge scheme that we will be introducing in September 2024.
Are there any additional cost?

Other than the classes, which are paid monthly depending on how many hours they do there can be additional costs depending on the level.

Entry to competitions and uniforms are additional and depending on the competition will depend on both the entry cost and uniform requirements. For full information about additional costs please take a look at our fees page.

How do I pay for classes?

You can pay directly through the class4kids booking system however this does charge a small platform fee. You can pay directly onto our bank account, or pay cash (in an envelope with the childs name on). Lots of parents set up a monthly standing order to make it easier each month. Just send us a message and we will give you our bank details.
