Meet The Coaches

We have an array of qualified coaches, and each of them is very passionate about the sport they coach, they have their strengths within their coaching and we at Twizzlers are always looking to aid them to move on to further qualifications and provide the mentoring and support they need. Our coaches work through the British Gymnastics Coaching Scheme, this is a progressive scheme from beginner coaches to high-performance coaching. All coaches over 16 years old  are  required to be DBS checked and first aid trained before working with others. You will also see a number of our younger gymnasts assisting qualified coaches across both Trampoline & Gymnastics

British Gymnastics currently has 72 different coaching courses available across the disciplines starting with Helper for both trampoline and gymnastics through to High Performance Coaches that specialise in each discipline. To view the courses in more detail please see the British Gymnastics section on coaching

We are lucky enough in Twizzlers to have a large number of coaches with a wide range skills and abilities to be able to provide the most for every member whether that be in recreational or competitive classes. If you would like to find out more detailed information about what is involved in the courses please read more below….  If you are intested in also looking at getting qualified please get in touch with Mel or Angie. Gymnastics & Trampoline Helper Course

This is an introductory course for those interested in learning more about how to help the other coaches in a gymnastics or trampoline session. This course is ideal for teenagers, parents, and volunteers, and will provide you with the key skills needed to help your Lead Coach run effective and participant-centred sessions.

Level 1 – General Gymnastics

This course is aimed at anyone who is already engaged with gymnastics and therefore looking to develop their knowledge further and get involved in coaching, it will qualify you to be an assistant coach in general gymnastics.  General gymnastics is an exciting discipline to coach. Participants perform dynamic balances, flexibility stretches, and skills. You will also develop the skills to support participants on impressive apparatus such as beams, bars and vault.

Level 1 – Womens Artistic Gymnastics

Level 1 – Trampoline Gymnastics

Level 2 – General Gymnastics ,WAG & Trampoline

A level 2 qualification is the next stage following your Level 1 qualification. As a level 2 coach, you will be able to work independently, running a class and plan the training and development of the gymnast’s skill using correct progressions within the stages of learning. You will be able to lead and help develop helper and level 2 coaches, sharing your knowledge and passion with the new generation of coaches.

Level 3 – General Gymnastics ,WAG & Trampoline

Trampoline, general 4 modules wag

At this point, the coaches have to decide what pathway for their coaching is right for them. Both General Gymnastics and Artistic Gymnastics have 3 further modules before becoming a fully qualified Level 3. This ultimately depends on which pathway the coach will be taking

Level 3 modules for both pathways include a variety of specific progressions for many skills. Coaches are taught to understand the building blocks and stages of learning each skill. This then helps to coaches to start to develop how they are linked and  adapted to different pieces of apparatus.

Each course has a theory section which includes sections on anatomy and physiology, together with conditioning and basic nutrition and wellbeing.

More information about these courses are here:

Senior Club, Performance and High-Performance Coach

At this level, coaches have to put in an application to British Gymnastics to apply for a place on these courses. The application will include videos and a presentation to include information to show the journey you have taken alongside your gymnasts to get to this point.
