“I really think a champion is defined not by their wins, but how they recover when they fall”

About Our Squads.

If a gymnast or trampolinist shows the talent, potential and enthusiasm for progressing skills, might be invited to trial for one of our competitive squads. This can be from either, during the general classes or our own internal competition. This entails a commitment from the gymnast to train for more hours than standard classes, as well as for competitions. They will learn teamwork, resilience, and the importance of enjoying the learning process.

We have Pre-Squads for both Gymnastics and Trampolining that are there to prepare the younger members for what’s ahead. These enable us to ensure progression of their skills, for when they are ready to move into the main squad. We do have a number of members who are in squads across multiple disciplines.

Competitive squads take part in a number of various competitions outside of the Twizzlers own internal event. In both Gymnastics & Trampoline this ranges from local competitions against other clubs to Regional & National level events.

Our trampolinists start their own competitive journey at the Aspire level, held alongside the regional qualifier. Aspire level compete for London Club Champion and is used for the younger members to be able to jump in a larger arena outside of the Twizzlers own competition. Similar to the Regional side Aspire compete to take part in a final later in the year with the top 24 from each age group.

The Inter-Regional levels like the Aspire also jump in 2 qualifying events with the top 24 going through to the Finals. From those finals the top 2 then go on to represent London at the Inter-Regional Challenge Cup Finals normally held at the Utilita

whilst the Level 1 & above compete for a place to represent London. Both Aspire & Level 1 have on the day winners but ultimately compete across 2 qualifying events to take part in a final where Aspire compete for Club and Level 1 and above for the places in London

For both regional level events gymnasts and trampolinists are competing for a place to represent London. Trampolinists aim compete for London in the Inter-Regional Challenge Cup Finals normally held at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham.

Alongside the Inter-Regional we also look at them to compete in the National Trampoline League. This takes place in 3 venues across the country which in 2024 was the University Of Birmingham, Cardiff with the 3rd normally held in the Northumberland area. This competition sees trampolinists gaining points to reach the finals later in the year. Trampoline league is the next step up from Inter-Regional as you jump against other trampolinists from all over the country. It does also provide great experience jumping at large events at final like venues with large crowds

and gymnasts at (Where do Zinc go) Building up experience in competition is important across all squads as the format and experience at each is always very different.

Other competitions our squads take part in are the Trampoline & DMT League. This takes place in 3 venues across the country, one of which is normally Cardiff.  We also enter the English Trampoline & DMT Qualifier being held in Telford. Both events see our competitors competing against people from all over the country, making new friends along the way.
